So I’m taking a lot of heat for my post on bad service. But my opinion stands. Maybe I have different expectations. Maybe I’m just a magnet for bad service in a town blessed with good service. If this is the case, there is a plot for me to uncover. However, I still think G-funk could use a little kick in the pants in its restaurant service category. I’ve had the wait staff be rude to me, dismissive, curt, short, sloppy, and slooooooowww… I know I’m not eating at a five star restaurant, but there are some basics of service I think should be met: Timeliness, friendliness, and correctness. I know when I sit down to eat, it’s not the drive through, and I have to wait a little. And I know it’s lunch time or dinner time and the place is packed. I don’t care. Yeah, I said it. I don’t care. If you can’t meet my simple needs as a patron, I’ll go somewhere else. I don’t care whose fault it is. If the restaurant has the best wait staff in the state, but it takes too long to get food because of management or whatever, I’m going to another restaurant. In fact, I’ll even say this: the best service I’ve had in Great Falls is at Makenzie River Pizza, Cattin’s, Dante’s and the McDonald’s on Marketplace. If anyone wants an example of how it’s done, go to one of these places. Even the 18-year-old high school kid at the window at 7 a.m. who’s on minimum wage trying to pay the insurance on his hand-me-down car still acts like he’s happy to see me. So go ahead… call me crazy. Call me a false prophet or a Neo-Calvinist, but don’t call me a man with no opinion.
