More Coffee Thoughts
Some say Seattle is the home of great coffee. Starbuck's, Tully's, and Seattle's Best are all HQd there. But I'll tell you where I had the best coffee in the entire Seattle area. It was in Tukwilla, in the Embassy Suites hotel continental breakfast. And it wasn't even a person making the coffee, it was a machine. A lovely heavenly machine. All I had to do was push the button labeled "Vanilla Latte" and it did the magic right before my eyes. It ground the beans just then, steamed the milk and made the pour. Best cup of coffee ever. Of course, it had a couple drawbacks: it only had about ten different types of coffee it could make. So beware any coffee shops with only ten coffee types, you might be replaced by a machine. Plus, the machine was a lot less personable than a... well... a person. It felt awkward talking to it and thanking it for the coffee, but I felt compelled to do so. I can't remember the name on the machine, but it wasn't one of the big three. I think Starbucks and Seattle's Best taste kind of harsh. Like they're always scalded when I drink it. And Tully's tastes a little too Earthy... like there's dirt in it. I think I'll head down to that coffee shop in the Kum-n-Go by the Heritage. Maybe I'll remember the name of the place this time. Great coffee there too, but we've already been over that haven't we?
And the answer to my last post is: Germany.
I asked when I was there today. It's just called the Kum-n-Go Coffee Shop. What a letdown. I was hoping for something more creative from such a wonderful place.
