Competition is Good!

I've heard some talk lately about how all the new chain restaurants will hurt the local restaurants. My opinion (as if there were any doubt I'd share it) is that competition is good. Maybe some nice places will get the locals out of their comfort zone. They've had it easy for a while now. Our entire economy is founded on competitive capitalist ideas. It's proven to work. I mention all of this because I just caught word of someone in Great Falls looking to build a TGIF here in town. I hope it's true. But also, I hope it isn't going to be built in the marketplace area. That place is restaurant central. I'd like to see a new place on the northwest side. The lot would be a lot cheaper, and they'd have fewer neighbors competing with them. But... like I said... competition is good. Even existing restaurants are getting a facelift: McDonald's, Pizza Hut, and all the Taco John's in town. I'll try the Boston Pizza soon. Expect an update. Until then: Merry Christmas!

Take a good book with you -- the wait time when I tried to get in this evening was two hours!

Boston's is decent food...I have yet to be impressed food quality to price anyway. But as for TGIF, it's the WORST bastardization of food that you can put under one roof, in my opinion...and the service, generally is appauling...Maybe Great Falls will have better luck, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
